Divide shrubs and perennial flowers
The first signs of golden autumn approaching - yellowed leaves in the crowns of birches, reddening maple tops - indicate the readiness of ornamental shrubs, vines, perennial flowers for autumn division. In September, hydrangea dividing and transplanting are well tolerated, chubushniki, almonds, cotoneaster, park roses, honeysuckle, grapes, actinidia and other species.

For hydrangea, cotoneaster, chubushnik I choose a calm place in partial shade, where the soil does not dry out, but the water does not stagnate. You can make a bed along the fence or under the crowns of mature trees, but no closer than 1.5 m to the trunk. I put a sand cushion with a layer of 7-10 cm, then a peat layer with humus and autumn mineral fertilizers, I spill it well, let the soil settle.
I dig the overgrown bush vertically to the depth of a bayonet of a shovel in a radius of 30-40 cm, take it out with a lump, shake off the ground, cut off the broken roots, and remove the damaged ones. I lower the root system in a 1% solution of copper sulfate or a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate, leave for 20-30 minutes. Having taken out of the solution, I divide the bush, I dip the shares in the same solution, and then in the liquid clay mash.
I plant all plants, given the "wind rose". In our suburbs, it is best to plant delenki with a slight slope to the north-west, in which case the bulk of the roots will be located on the southeast side of the bush. I hydrange hydrangea, chubushniki, cotoneaster slightly in the soil (3-5 cm), and plant almonds on an earthen cone. Landing well shed. I tie the upper part of the crown with a soft tape without tightening it, or cut it at a height of 30-40 cm. I do the trimming on the outer kidney. If the stems are thick or hollow (forsythia, action), I cover them with garden var.

If the autumn turned out to be dry, but I have to leave for a few days, I cover the plants with plastic wrap, after spraying with an epin solution, and water it. In general, transplanted delenki need to be watered every 2 days, and once every 7-10 days, treated with a solution of root, heteroauxin or zircon. In this period of autumn, when it is still warm, my main task is to create conditions for the bushes to root in a new place. For this, the average daily air temperature of 14-17 ° C should be kept for at least 2 weeks, not lower, at a lower temperature the plant does not take root well.
The end of August - the beginning of September is a good time for dividing bushes of grassy perennials: gelenium, New England aster, buzulnik, astilbe, hosts. I water the asters bush the day before dividing. I make sure that there are 3-4 flowering shoots in the delenka. New England aster shoots grow quite densely. If the bush is not divided, after 4-5 years its diameter can reach 1 m, the lower part of the stems will be exposed. Bushes that divide every 2-3 years look more attractive. I cut a part of the bush with a sharp bayonet shovel, dig it in from all sides and take it out.
If it is possible to separate the smaller parts, gently pull out the shoots, taking care not to damage the roots. I cut the flower stalks to a height of 30-40 cm. I dip the delenki in a 1% solution of copper sulfate and lower it for 1 hour in a root solution. I plant the delenki in loose soil immediately in a constant place (part in partial shade, part in bright sun, thus prolonging flowering). New England aster is one of the last to complete the ball of flowers of the outgoing season. It blooms very plentifully, not all buds have time to open before the snow. When cut, these asters will delight you at home for another 2-3 weeks.
