Potato pancakes, or Draniki
A simple, budget and very tasty dish - potato pancakes, they are pancakes! If you do not know what to cook from potatoes, you have already tried potato zrazy, casseroles, and potatoes, and mashed potatoes and fried potatoes are a little fed up - make potato pancakes: ruddy, with a golden fried crust! Among the many potato dishes, of which there are hundreds, potato pancakes are one of the easiest and at the same time royally delicious recipes.
Draniki is a recipe for Belarusian cuisine, first published in the popular cookery book of 1830, and originally a recipe for potato pancakes came from German cuisine. Nowadays, potato pancakes are cooked in many countries, and everywhere they call in their own way. Belarusian draniki, Ukrainian potato pancakes, Polish dances, Russian teruns, Swiss ryoshi ... And this is not a complete list.
Delicious potato pancakes are known and loved all over the world! Let us prepare them for breakfast, because traditionally potato pancakes are served for breakfast.

- For 500 g of grated potatoes (5 pieces of medium size) -
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion;
- 2.5 tbsp. l flour;
- slightly less than 0.5 teaspoon of salt (or to taste);
- sunflower oil for frying.

Wash and peel the potatoes well. Peel the onion.
Ingredients for potato pancakes can be twisted in a meat grinder, or you can rub on a grater. I prefer the second option. Firstly, do not wash the meat grinder. Secondly, potato pancakes with a large texture are tastier! And, finally, this is the most correct way, because the very name “potato pancakes” comes from the word “tear” - to rub. And when rubbing, not so much juice is released as when twisting, so the potato dough is less liquid; less flour is needed, potato pancakes are easily rolled over and hold their shape perfectly.
Grate potatoes and onions on a coarse grater.
Add salt, pepper, egg, mix.
Add the flour, mix well again. Potato juice should not be drained; mix the dough thoroughly enough.
Well, preheat the pan with sunflower oil and a tablespoon to lay out portions of potato dough in the form of round pancakes.
We fry without a lid over a fire more than average, until golden brown, then with a spatula or fork we turn it to the second side.
When the potato pancakes are fried until golden and on the other hand, remove them on a plate.

Slices of chicken or minced meat, pieces of sausages or sausages can be added to potato mass for potato pancakes; mushrooms - then the dish will be even more interesting and satisfying.
