Miniature roses are back in fashion. Tiny, but amazingly hardy, literally drowning in flowers, they expand the possibilities of using the Queen of Gardens to almost limitless options. Caring for them is quite simple, and they do not add much to the work calendar. Admiring the magnificent clouds from the flowers of these, albeit small, but precious shrubs, many gardeners year after year try to increase their collection.

Minimal care for the smallest roses

No matter what tiny roses they are talking about - magnificent patios, dwarf polyanthus, groundcover or small climes - they are considered one of the easiest to grow and practically maintenance-free. Dwarf sizes and pastorality, the effect of a living bouquet are combined in miniature stars with the improved stamina and endurance they received from their ancestors.

And wherever you use such roses - to decorate the edge of the flower garden, in the border of the rose garden, rock garden or rock garden, to create pink carpets or beds, on retaining walls or slopes, on the patios or as a miniature decoration in complex compositions and ensembles - just remember just a few mandatory procedures that, with the timely observance of certain rules, guarantee you not only plentiful flowering, but also the preservation of the health of miniature roses for many years.

The calendar for caring for these beauties of the “mini” format is amazingly simple, and it is impossible to get confused. Everything, as always, depends on the weather and conditions in a particular year. But there are general norms that never change.

Mulching is the main care item for miniature roses. Unlike large roses, miniature plants without mulching are undesirable to grow: they are more sensitive to oversupply or lack of moisture, compaction, loss of water and air permeability of the soil. For tiny stars, they create immediately after planting and constantly maintain a layer of mulch from 5 to 8 cm high. Any available options can be used as materials, but compost or dung are still preferred for miniature roses. But then, for these beauties, mulch is usually created once a year, even in the autumn updating it in exceptional cases.

Despite the fact that mulch reliably protects plants from weeds, you still have to fight them. For miniature roses, weed grasses, if they nevertheless make their way through the protective layer, are removed only by hand: in a radius of up to 1 m from the miniature rose, it is better not to mechanically treat the soil, especially when it comes to soil cover.

Watering such roses is rarely needed. In fact, it is imperative that several of these procedures are carried out only until the rose has taken root after planting. And everything else, care depends on the weather. Miniature roses are watered during very protracted droughts, when the soil dries strongly, to a depth of 15 cm. Watering should be very deep, and not superficial. As a rule, for waterfalls 1 watering in 2 weeks is enough. If you grow miniature roses in containers in the garden, then care for them is the same as for pilots, but without excess moisture.

And with the rest of the procedures, everything is very simple. For miniature roses, only three dressings are applied, and even then a third - only in case of poor growth or lack of flowering. But for them it is very important to regularly remove fading flowers.

So, the mini rose maintenance calendar is not at all complicated. Indeed, where a mild climate reigns, miniature roses continue to be planted even in winter. And the strategy of your cultivation matters: if you "combine" indoor and garden culture, plant or plant roses in the garden only for the summer, then the hassle will increase.

Let's get acquainted with the features of caring for miniature garden roses in each of the seasons.
