Yoshta - an amazing union of gooseberries and black currants
Yoshta - a hybrid bred by crossing gooseberries and black currants. Separately, it is worth noting the decorativeness of yoshta during the flowering period. It is a lush, sprawling shrub reaching a height of 2-2.5 m.

Yoshta cultivation
To grow yoshta, you need sunny places and well-cultivated fertile soil. In general, agricultural technology is similar to that for gooseberries or currants. The only difference is that the shrub is more hardy and resistant to agricultural errors.
Landing yoshta
Preparatory work is needed only if the plot is overgrown with weeds and the land is not fertile. In this case, the soil is dug up with the addition of decayed organics. Yoshta landing is carried out in spring or early fall. The size of the landing hole is 40 cm depth and 60 cm diameter. The distance between landings is 2 m by 1.5 m. When planting, it is worth using more potash fertilizers than nitrogen. It is not necessary to fertilize before fruiting, except in cases when the shrub grows poorly.

Yoshta Care
Yoshta does not need special pruning. It is enough to carry out sanitary pruning in the spring to remove dry and frozen branches. Watering is carried out 3 times per season: with the formation of ovaries, berries and in the fall. As an ornamental plant, yoshta practically does not need to be fed. To increase productivity in the summer, fertilizing with mullein, in autumn with wood ash is performed. Other dressings are carried out as necessary.

Yoshta breeding
Yoshta propagates vegetatively (by cuttings, dividing the bush, layering) or sowing seeds. Division of the bush is used when a sufficiently mature bush needs to be transplanted. To do this, the bush is divided into several parts, so that each has a minimum of 2 shoots and a developed rhizome. This method is effective, but very laborious. Fruiting will begin at 2 year.
The annual shoots remaining from the autumn pruning are perfect as woody cuttings. The shoots are cut along the length of 15-20 cm, leaving four buds on each handle. They are planted in carefully treated soil, leaving two kidneys on the surface. It should be planted at an angle of 45 ° C, at a distance between landings of 50 by 10 cm. The soil is generously watered and mulched with humus. For fast rooting in the first month, the soil on the bed should be kept moist and loose.
Propagation by green cuttings significantly speeds up the process of obtaining yoshta seedlings. Cuttings are cut from the tops of all branches of the bush 3 times during the summer, 10-15 cm long. Next, all leaves except 1-2 top ones are removed. For rooting as soon as possible, a small longitudinal incision is made over each kidney and 2-3 such incisions in the lower part. Cuttings prepared and washed in clean water are planted in cold greenhouses prepared in advance.
Before planting, a layer of coarse sifted sand is poured onto the treated soil, approximately 10 cm. Planted at an angle of 45 ° C almost close to each other. Planted cuttings must be abundantly watered with a watering can with a small strainer. Half a month after planting, they take root and form a fibrous root system.

When propagating by arcuate or horizontal layering, two-year-old branches with developed growths or annual shoots are taken. The soil near the plant must be thoroughly dug up and leveled in advance. After that, shallow grooves are made in the ground, into which processes are bent and sprinkled. When young shoots from the allotted branches reach a length of 15 cm, they are sprinkled to half with humus or moist fertile soil. Separate and transplant rooted layering is recommended next spring.
When propagated by vertical layering, the shrub cuts shortly in early spring, leaving the shoots 15 cm long. With good care, a fair amount of young shoots are obtained. When the sprouts reach 15-20 cm from the base, in the center the bush is densely sprinkled with soil, after 25 days the procedure is repeated. Sprouts are separated from the bush the next year in the fall or early spring. When planting, seedlings are cut short, leaving four buds.
