Euphorbia fringed (Euphorbia marginata) is a beautiful annual flower from the Euphorbia family. Under natural conditions, it grows in various landscape zones, mainly on the mountain slopes of North America. It has been cultivated in the culture since the 19th century. Today, this type of milkweed is one of the most popular and unusual for landscaping. In the flower garden, the milkweed bushes are very similar to “snow balls”. A wide snow-white border, passing along the edge of the upper leaves, makes the plant very decorative.

Euphorbia grows very quickly and reaches a height of 50-80 cm by autumn. It blooms in the middle of summer with plain small flowers. Flowering lasts until frost. In flower beds, euphorbia bordered perfectly in harmony with phlox, ornamental cereals, monarda, is a good background for many beautiful flowering perennials. In the cut, it successfully combines with such cultures as dolphiniums, dahlias, roses, mallow. This plant is resistant to disease, almost not damaged by pests.

Like all types of milkweed, fringed is unpretentious and does not require special care. His snow balls can be found everywhere: at gas stations, bus stations, half-abandoned flower beds. Sown once, propagating by self-sowing, it does not require any agricultural activities. The main thing he needs is good lighting. Therefore, for planting milkweed, sunny areas should be allotted where the plant will feel great and look quite spectacular. In a light shadow, spurge grows weak and pale.

It will suit sandy substrates and poor stony soils, but it will be much more comfortable for him on a fertile land rich in nutrients. The plant tolerates dry periods safely and does not require frequent watering. Waterlogging is undesirable for him and can become fatal for this species. Therefore, when choosing a place, wet depressions with a close location of groundwater should be avoided.

Euphorbia propagated by seed (without stratification) and vegetative methods. For seedlings, seeds are sown in spring in March or before winter. The first shoots appear after 10 days. Seedlings are afraid of frost, so they are planted in the ground after a positive temperature is established. Since the milkweed bushes become large and powerful by the end of summer, the interval between them is left at least 30 cm.

The vegetative method is also not complicated. Cut the cuttings must first be put into water in order to stop the release of white liquid - milky juice, which prevents rooting, which passes very quickly, for 3 weeks. However, when working with cuttings, it must be remembered that the juice is toxic and can cause irritation to the skin of the hands.
